About University of Glasgow
The University of Glasgow, founded in 1451, is the fourth oldest university in the English-speaking world. Its main campus in the West End of Glasgow is centred on a stunning Gothic Revival main building that ranks among the most impressive university architecture anywhere in the world.
Glasgow is a comprehensive research university with strengths across medicine, engineering, social sciences and the arts. Its Adam Smith Business School (named after Glasgow's most famous alumnus, the father of modern economics) is highly regarded. The university is also home to one of the UK's leading gravitational wave research groups β Glasgow scientists played a key role in the LIGO discovery.
For North American students, Glasgow offers outstanding value. Tuition fees are competitive, the city has one of the lowest costs of living of any major UK city, and the quality of education is world-class. Glasgow's four-year Scottish degree structure mirrors the North American model, allowing students to explore different subjects before specialising.

Glasgow actively recruits from North America and accepts standard qualifications: AP scores of 4-5, IB diploma (34-38 points) and Canadian Grade 12 with strong averages. The four-year Scottish degree is appealing for North American students because first year is broader (similar to US freshmen year). Glasgow is one of the most affordable top-tier UK universities for international students β both tuition and living costs are competitive.
